Over the years, we have seen an increase in social media usage not only in South Africa, but the entire continent. YouTube is the second most used social media platform in Africa, with 10.94% of its population actively engaging on the platform from October 2019 until present.
South Africa has seen an increase in the number of YouTube influencers as well as in the number of people consuming YouTube content. Various brands have also started using this form of influencer marketing to tap into their desired audiences. Thato Rampedi is a South African content creator and renowned YouTuber, he is also a final year Industrial Engineering student at the University of Pretoria. Thato Rampedi has been creating content for the past two years and in that short space of time, he has managed to garner a following of over 56 000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, which is considered to be one of the fastest-growing YouTube channels in the country.
His greatest strength as a content creator lies in how he is able to create content that is useful for end-user engagement. His forward-thinking and innovative approach to creating content has helped propel the channel’s growth to this point. Thato Rampedi produces content that varies in style, and he is able to create high quality content across multiple genres.
